However, even if you are not up for travels, a Philippine passport is as good as any valid identification. More importantly, it is honored by all government offices and business institutions. The new Philippine passport is valid for 10 years, therefore, you won’t have to renew often. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to renew or apply for a passport.
How to Apply?
- Secure an online appointment. Click here for the link:
- Fill out all the pertinent information. Secure a schedule and the issuing office. Make sure all the information are correct.
- After submission, you will be required to pay the passport processing fee. Here is the list of the authorized Payment Centers :
- Bayad Center.
- EcPay.
- Pera Hub.
- Robinsons Business Center and Department Stores.
- Waltermart Department Store.
- 7-Eleven.
- USCC (Western Union)
- Villarica Pawnshop.
- After successfully paying, you will receive an appointment packet emailed to you.
- Personally show up for the appointment.
These are the requirements you need to bring for the appointment:
REQUIREMENTS FOR MINOR NEW APPLICANTS:
- Confirmed Online Appointment (if applicable)
- Accomplished Application Form
- A personal appearance of minor applicant and either parent or authorized adult companion is needed.
- Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate is required if only one parent is accompanying the child
- Passport or Valid Government issued ID of either parent with one (1) photocopy
- School ID (if applicable)
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADULT NEW APPLICANTS:
- Confirmed Online Appointment
- Personal Appearance
- Accomplished Application Form
- Original and photocopy of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Authenticated Birth Certificate on Security Paper
- Bring any acceptable IDs with one (1) photocopy.
RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADULT and MINOR :
- Confirmed Online Appointment
- Accomplished Application Form
- Personal appearance
- Current ePassport with a photocopy of the data page
- Original PSA authenticated documents that will support the change of name
- Marriage Contract
- Annotated Birth Certificate
- Annotated Marriage Contract to show annulment/divorce/court-ordered instruction
- Death Certificate of Spouse
A lost, mutilated passport will be treated as a new application. A penalty fee of 350.00 is required plus the passport processing fee. The passport processing fee is Php950.00.
Some helpful tips:
- You should inform the DFA officer of any mistake you may have filled out during your appointment. This is to avoid unnecessary delays.
- No to fixers. Securing an online appointment would not be taking much of your time.
- A courtesy lane is provided for senior citizens.
- Allow a week or two after the scheduled release to make sure your passport is already in the issuing office.
